-Last Call for Plant Earth: Sustainable Development and Architecture

-Frank Gehry: Architecture as Art

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

- From the first video I learned about how construction affects our environment. I also learned the things that designers can do in order to help protect the environment such as installing solar panels.

-From the second video I learned about Gehry's design style. He prefers simple and functional designs, things out the box that are anti-monolithic

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

-It talked about the different techniques in both the readings and the textbook.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture?

-I liked the videos because they taught me about the environment and not to be selfish about it. I loved learning about the different ways that we can be more efficient about how and where we are building.

4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?

-I chose the first video because it sounded dramatic, lol. It sounded like a desperate call for Earth and it is but I didn't expect the solution to be as simple.

-I chose the second video because I wanted to get an artist perspective on what it's like to design something.

The -ism of religion

. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose the Buddhism video because I've always had an interest in it. I watched Hinduism because I've never heard much of it and I wanted to learn something new. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. I knew that Buddhism is a religion based on love and peace but seeing how it played a part in art helped me see how much people appreciated it. Both videos explained the many different religions and the way that these religions played a role in art development 4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? I liked the both videos mostly because they helped me explore cultures that are different from my own.

1. -What art is -Definition of Aesthetics -Art History -Different Philosophers 2. Plato, he believed that art is just an imitation of a real-life object. I agree with this because if you're making a video you're reproducing images used in real-life, if you're making a painting it is based on a real-life experience except that it is altered. 3. I love how they used science as a way to explain aesthetics because when I think of it I think of it as a style and they went over and beyond to create research to prove their facts.It captured my attention seeing the different ways that our brain works when it sees a piece of art and how it reacts to it because this proves that aesthetic is a form of beauty and our brain captures certain images to process it and see if it fits our taste but most of the time all this happens in a matter of seconds and it occurs subconsciously which is the best part because we can't control it. 4. 1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting. -Soft colors, also known as warm colors pertain to reds, yellows and oranges. These types of colors are the types that cause different emotions depending on how you look at it. For example: red may be looked at as a elegant and fierce color, but in some images it may be used to describe anger or distress. 2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why? -A theoretical aspect of color that fascinates me is that some words or school subjects have a color registered in our minds. Also that some colors can make us feel hungry. This is interesting because I've never thought of it in this depth. The furthest I thought of a color was "What's your favorite color?" or "Does this color go with me?" 3.
