Module 9

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
I chose these videos based on the med evil time period of art. I chose Albrecht Durer: Image of a master because I've always heard stories about him. 
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Sea Holly (a plant) signifies a groom-to-be.
For an "enamel-like finish" Durer added 6-7 coats of the paint
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
Velazquez was very good at blending. In the book we learned about artist' life influencing their art. 
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?I''m enjoying these videos so far because they give me an inside look into an artist personal life which helps us understand their painting on a deeper level. I find it very interesting "learning" about artists that are so old that our records about them either aren't accurate or are missing pieces.

I watched Hinduism because I've never heard much of it and I wanted to learn something new. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. I knew that Buddhism is a religion based on love and peace but seeing how it played a part in art helped me see how much people appreciated it.  Both videos explained the many different religions and the way that these religions played a role in art development 4. I liked the both videos mostly because they helped me explore cultures that are different from my own.

Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetic

1.  -What art is -Definition of  Aesthetics -Art History -Different Philosophers 2. Plato, he believed that art is just an imitation of a real-life object. I agree with this because if you're making a video you're reproducing images used in real-life, if you're making a painting it is based on a real-life experience except that it is altered.  3. I love how they used science as a way to explain aesthetics because when I think of it I think of it as a style and they went over and beyond to create research to prove their facts.It captured my attention seeing the different ways that our brain works when it sees a piece of art and how it reacts to it because this proves that aesthetic is a form of beauty and our brain captures certain images to process it and see if it fits our taste but most of the time all this happens in a matter of seconds and it occurs subconsciously which is the best part because we can't control it.  4. Color my emotions

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting. -Soft colors, also known as warm colors pertain to reds, yellows and oranges. These types of colors are the types that cause different emotions depending on how you look at it. For example: red may be looked at as a elegant and fierce color, but in some images it may be used to describe anger or distress.  2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why? -A theoretical aspect of color that fascinates me is that some words or school subjects have a color registered in our minds. Also that some colors can make us feel hungry. This is interesting because I've never thought of it in this depth. The furthest I thought of a color was "What's your favorite color?" or "Does this color go with me?" 3.
