Module 11- Blog Video Review

1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose The Mystical North: Spanish Art from the 19th century to the present because being Hispanic I wanted to learn more about the art aspect of my culture. I chose Dada and Surrealism Expressionism because I was curious to find out what that is.  2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The first video was interesting because I learned about an artist named Goya which is funny because that is a brand that Hispanics commonly use for their cooking ingredients. The second video just showed different schools and art events.  2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? The readings in the book were more informative than the videos 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? Module 8- Blog Video Review

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above. I chose the Greek art video because I thought it had more mythological concepts. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. The first video explained how our brain creates art using what we find attractive so artwork that we make would always resemble what we find beautiful. Greek art once had a very religious look on their art work they focused on the Gods and royals so did their architecture and the way they built churches but now their form is based off of humans and their development and the art tells a story.  3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? The readings talked about how human body develops and they give more details into how this can be used in art. 4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? I really loved watching the More Human then Human video because I do love learn

Module 6- Blog Video Review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Sculpting is timely and you must have precision because of the science and math and techniques that go into it. In the glass and ceramics video my favorite part was watching them create the mosaics because I've always wondered how those beautiful stained glass pieces came together I never knew how difficult they were to create. 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? This video relates to the reading because they both talk about how sculpting and architecture go hand in hand. 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?  The video called Through the Eyes of a Sculptor was more interesting than the Glass and Ceramics video because it showed you them creating different pieces and the lady was showing us around how the students learn it and the precision it takes and why it is easier for her. 1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose these videos based on the med evil time period of art. I chose Albrecht Durer: Image of a master because I've always heard stories about him.  2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. Sea Holly (a plant) signifies a groom-to-be. For an "enamel-like finish" Durer added 6-7 coats of the paint 2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? Velazquez was very good at blending. In the book we learned about artist' life influencing their art.  3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?I''m enjoying these videos so far because they give me an inside look into an artist personal life which helps us understand their painting on a deeper level. I find it very interesting "learning" about artists that are so old that our records about them either ar

The -ism of religion

. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I chose the Buddhism video because I've always had an interest in it. I watched Hinduism because I've never heard much of it and I wanted to learn something new. 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. I knew that Buddhism is a religion based on love and peace but seeing how it played a part in art helped me see how much people appreciated it.  Both videos explained the many different religions and the way that these religions played a role in art development 4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? I liked the both videos mostly because they helped me explore cultures that are different from my own.

Exploring Line

1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing? It was kind of confusing because I needed both hands, one to hold the paper and one to draw, but I wasn't able to do that. It was also difficult for me to draw with my non-dominant hand but I believe I did a good job 2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why? Pencil because this was a difficult  task that I didn't want to mess up and start all over. 3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand? -Uncomfortable but it was also easy because it was a sketch with just lines 4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies? I think I did a great job for the circumstance. Although the first hand is straighter than the bottom one. 5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork in the future? -No way unless I'm trying to imitate a baby's artwork
